I'm about due for some new plugs, and I noticed that the splitfire plugs
would be about the same price (or even a little cheaper) as what I'd
normally put in. I don't really expect them to give any great increase in

Did they make the 240dl stuff standard on the 240 and
not have a dl or gl any longer?

The power locking system works perfectly when the tailgate is *up*, locking
and unlocking. (Checked with the inner panel removed.) .
When the tailgate is *down*, the sliding rod which accomplishes the locking
and unlocking doesn't move, or doesn't move enough.  It appears to stick ...

I have a 2003 V70 and both my brake lights are out. The service guy at
the dealer says it's my lights, fairly common problem on my car and
it'll be $40 to change them out. I found the bulbs at an auto parts
store for $5 but my husband and I can't figure out how to change them.

After a good tune up, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, throttle body
clean and aic cleaning the car ran good and idled smooth. Now it still
runs good but is idling rough and seems rich at idle. I cleaned the
throttle body with out removing it so I may need to remove it and try.

Can oil fumes get in the fuel mixing chamber, and can they make it out
to the Mass Air Flow monitor and fowl it?
My car started having problems starting right after my flame guard got
clogged and blew out some seals.

I just bought a 1989 Volvo 740 GL and it has that button for the
overdrive.  What does it do? and when should I use it?   I know this
is probably a stupid question, but I would still much appreciate an

Its a 92 volvo 740 turbodiesel.  It has P215 tires.  I checked on the
spare tire, and found to my surprise that there IS no spare. So I made
a call to the only junkyard in town for foreign cars. They do not have
a Volvo 15 in wheel. They say they can special order one for $50.00.

our wagon's ac is having problems. the "cold" goes in and out--
sometimes the cold will come back on it's own, sometimes it will come
back after turning the ac off for a while and then turning it back on.
the ac mechanic said he could find nothing wrong--and suggested it was

I have 1988 240dl. Car had been sitting for 2 years without moving. I
was basically given it.  Problem i have is that the slow wiper doesnt
work and the washer pump front and rear not working either.  I get
11.5 volts at the terminal on both pumps but not fluid gets pumped.

I'm trying to remove the starter from my 91 240 all day, but to no
avail. There are two bolts that attach it to the engine block, and the
bottom one was a breeze. The top one, however, is completely
inaccessable. Any suggestions on getting it off? I even bought 18

Replaced AMM with correct unit, still  get frequent hard starts.
First start of the day can take two or three tries, with extended
cranking times.  Throughout the day, might start on first try like it

hi volvo guys...i have a 1990 740 with a mysterious noise while
braking.  it sort of sounds like a boing, others think it sounds like
a low note on an out of tune piano.  it usually only happens when i am
braking from a slow speed (parking, stop signs, etc.)  i can feel a
