Question about 1975 245 DL13 Mar 2008 14:35 GMT2
My son maintains that this car used 'leaded' gas, and "I" think I remember
putting unleaded in it.  I drove it from '75 to '83 and then it became the
kids' car until I sold it in '92 or thereabouts.
Anyone know what this station wagon used for fuel?  It was imported into the

windshield washer pump12 Mar 2008 04:31 GMT9
I was late to add enough antifreeze to washer fluid so it got frozen
this winter. In fact added some but didn't work well (because it was
over diluted by remaining water in reservoir) Nowadays weather is warm
enough to melt it down but washer jets still doesn't work. I've checked ...

converting from nivomats10 Mar 2008 22:07 GMT2
My brother has an '87 760 Turbo with a sagging rear end. As I recall, this
car has the Nivomat self leveling suspension with the obscenely priced
shocks. Is there anything involved in converting to standard 740 style
shocks other than replacing the springs?
electrical mystery09 Mar 2008 00:58 GMT3
every once in awhile we discover the battery (otherwise ok) has gone
dead in our '97 960 wagon. when the ignition is turned to the starting
position, there is a rapid clicking sound but the engine won't turn
over. a jump-start gets it going again -- until the next time it

1997 Volvo 850 sedan, non-turbo, plethora of electrical problems08 Mar 2008 17:06 GMT3
Ah, the ghost is in MY machine......so I have a '97 Volvo 850 sedan, non-
turbo, and I think it may be possessed. I've owned the car for about two and
a half years, and for the first year or so the dash lights would randomly go
out while I was driving, usually after hitting some ...
Archives08 Mar 2008 02:55 GMT3
I had a LOT of good info stored on my recently-crashed computer. I
need to find the archives to recover some of that knowledge.
Where do I find the archives? I think they're in Google somewhere but
don't know where to look. Any help would be appreciated.

I have an 04 V40 with a strange noise. when the engine is cold there is no
noise but when warm there is a noise that sounds like a belt slipping then
gaining tension or a bearing engaging and disengaging. Had my timing
assembly replaced and the belts but noise still there. Any ...
source for Seat Cables '97 960 driver's side.06 Mar 2008 17:57 GMT2
I had the car in with the dealer (Manhattan Volvo) due to a check
engine light and an inability to find a shop to trust in Bayonne, NJ.
I was an aircraft mechanic, so I can work on stuff but really don't
know my way around newer cars.  I had them look at this and that, and
Getting the R-134A retrofit colder05 Mar 2008 18:29 GMT4
On my '87 Volvo 240, I've had the air conditioning compressor replaced
(along with the hoses) and also had that retrofit done (R-134A if I'm
not mistaken).  I'm noticing that the air conditioner is only
reasonably cool when on low.  At 2, 3 or 4, the air is much less
90 Volvo 740 GLE05 Mar 2008 17:52 GMT27
There's this 90 740 GLE listed on ebay at an auto donation yard that
I'm thinking of bidding on. It's close to my home, so I went out and
started it up. They claim that it runs rough, but shouldn't be driven
on the road. So, I started it up, and it roared to life, but it sounds
