For about a year the ABS light on my '97 850 has come on when it felt
like it (more times on than off especially in the Texas summer). I
checked several sources and got a lead to the right rear wheel sender
but never pursued it. The brakes worked fine.

I have a 98 s70 with 185k on it... I was think about getting a volvo
s80  99-2004,, a mechanic told me that s80 are known for blown head
gaskets. Is that true?

My son took his '92 240 to a local shop to have a bolt replaced holding the
alternator on. A week later the belt still slips and now the shop says the
alternator bushings need to be replaced and there is no way it can be tightened.
I have to admit that 25 years of driving 240,740 ...

My very reliable 96 850 wagon is shedding.  On the left and right of
the roof there is a long inch wide gray strip of plastic covering a
metal rail running from the bottom of the windshield to the tailgate
along each side.  This plastic trim cover started cracking and falling

My driver door window on autoclose reverses at TDC.  The only way to
close it is to use switch at first detent and manually close it.  How
can the window "relearn" TDC?  (I have tried the Nissan system of
holding switch in 2nd detent for 7-20 seconds and that hasn't worked).

Well it finally happened. I stopped at a light the other day in my 242
Turbo, glanced in my rearview mirror and saw a green flash and then
WHAM!! What turned out to be an Accura Integra slammed into my back end
at probably 20 mph. I felt my head snap back against the headrest, ...

1996 855. Drivers side headlight (Right hand drive) main beam not
working. Suspected bulb so removed and inspected. Looked ok so
substituted with bulb from LHS. Bulb working fine. Checked fuses

So it took three mechanics to fix the clacking noise in my 240.  
The first- my usual mechanic who has worked on my cars for at least 10
years- said he took the drive belts off and isolated the noise to the
engine.  Charged me $50 in labor.  Said it was probably a "lifter" noise.

my driver's side window is 3/4 down and will not power back upward
it  is 3/4 down because when it first wouldn't power up I made the
mistake of hitting the button downward again so it works going down
but not up

My '95 850 Turbo Wagon, 200k+ miles seems to have developed two
opportunities around the same time;
1)  The "are you really that stupid?" ding alarm started ringing as soon as
the key is inserted into the ignition.  All doors, including the glove box

I had a problem with my door key and thought it was the key that was
the problem.  I then lost the remote so had a guy come from the dealer
and he gave me a new remote and made a couple of keys and then those
keys didn't work either and he said something was wrong with my lock.

Recently, my wife's 1998 V70 AWD has started to make what sounds like
a gutteral growl sound when the gas pedal is applied.  The sound
diminishes when the pedal is released.  It sounds as if it's coming
from the front, under the car.

if the timing belt broke, does the valves crush on the pistons?
