Oddball electrical experience with my 1990 240 today29 Oct 2009 19:32 GMT6
Dunno what to make of this.  Drove to my first workplace this morning
and the car ran like a top per usual.
Got in to drive to workplace #2 and noticed the overdrive light came on
on the dash, pushed the button and it went off.  Car seemed to run fine

What would be the first symptom a driver would notice whilst driving,  if
the auto trans fluid was running low?

Air conditioning vac pump Q28 Oct 2009 06:14 GMT7
There is a WIDE range in price between the venturi style,
air-compressor powered A/C vac pumps and the electric powered ones
(like $30 compared to $150). Does anyone here have any experience
using one of the "economy" venturi pumps with success? I don't mind

'85 245 Air Conditioning -HELP!27 Oct 2009 04:58 GMT6
The clutch on the compressor of my Mom's '85 250 is toast. The
compressor may be gone as well. I can't test the compressor because
the clutch won't engage. [I even jumpered the clutch wire directly to
the battery by poking through the insulation right behind the clutch-
1967 Volvo Laplander Lets You Bork, Bork, Bork for $9,000!24 Oct 2009 07:14 GMT-
If your sport of choice is reindeer games, and you are uncomfortable thinking outside the box, then Nice Price or Crack Pipe has a four by four for you. And it's one that'll have you saying how Swede it is. Yesterday saw a candidate that appeared to be AWOL from Ice Station ...
Volvo 740 Blowing Fuse #1 (fuel pump fuse)22 Oct 2009 05:58 GMT18
I am having a problem with my otherwise reliable 1988 Volvo 740. For
several years now when I turned the car in very cold weather the idle
would falter a little. If I touched the gas pedal it would be just
fine. Then I started noting several months ago that when I was driving
2005 XC90 CEM corrosion21 Oct 2009 03:37 GMT5
From 2005 XC90 CEM
A Volvo mechanic showed me this bit of insanity.  The CEM1 circuit board
sits on top of CEM3  circuit board and they are soldered to each other via
header pins.  CEM3 is conformably coated but CEM1 is not.  The difference due
S60 Wheels Won't Stay Balanced19 Oct 2009 02:13 GMT10
I have a 2007 S60 which is driving me nuts because the wheels won't
stay balanced. Any ideas as to the cause will be appreciated.
The car was riding fine for a half year or so until I took it in for
the 30,000 mile maintenance. They rotated the tires, balanced the
Volvo S80 satnav disk (UK)18 Oct 2009 00:32 GMT2
Just bought a Volvo S80 T6 (1999 vintage) but the sat nav disk is
missing, is this available anywhere or would I be better off buying a

the stick shift. y'know, the black pull-thing that you need to pull to
get it into reverse. i've scoured the net for some sort of repair info,
but i could not find any.
Overdrive15 Oct 2009 01:04 GMT7
I've got an '88 240 Wagon, automatic.  For some reason, lately, the OD
stays on all the time.  The little orange arrow is illuminated on the
dash, and the button on the shifter does nothing.  It doesn't seem to
be too big of a deal, even on the highway.  But, I am worried about a
1990 Volvo 240 hitch receiver13 Oct 2009 17:30 GMT1
I have a 1990 Volvo 240, which came with a hitch receiver installed.
It looks to be a 2" receiver, but it will just barely not take a 2"
drawbar.  I heard that Volvos (and possibly a couple of other
manufacturers) tried to switch to a new standard at some point, but it
'93 240 wiper dilemna08 Oct 2009 03:10 GMT3
My '93 240 has wiper problems.  The intermitent doesn't work properly
and once the wipers are activated, I can't get them to stop unless I
turn off the engine.
I thought it was the relay and got a new one, but it didn't make any
