| Stripped Door Hinge Screw... | 13 Dec 2003 16:18 GMT | 3 |
I'm trying to remove my Bug's door. Most came out OK. But there's a couple that 'keep turning'. I'm guessing they are stripped. I tried putting a flat screw driver between the hinge and post to put tension on it but no change.

I used to have a copy of the old Realplayer basic installed, but lost it somehow... I would prefer NOT to download RealOne olayer with it's huge size and dialback/spyboot functions.

| How to remove tar from trunk | 12 Dec 2003 22:28 GMT | 25 |
Hi RAMVA! The SB I found a couple of days ago for parts and body sections has a thick layer of a tar like substance in the trunk. I don't know if a PO did that for waterproofing it or the gas leaked and formed that. What is the best way

| Is a P-reg Polo 1.4 16v with 87K on clock worth buying? | 12 Dec 2003 16:50 GMT | 2 |
I have been looking at a P-reg Polo 1.4 16v at a local garage and it has 87K on the clock. One owner with full history (not all VW though) It is at £2500, I am wondering whether it would be sensible to buy the car? It seems to have wider tyres than normal as well would they be

| igniter and similar ignition devices | 12 Dec 2003 05:27 GMT | 4 |
I am considering installing the igniter in my 1965 6 volt type 1. Can I use the stock vaccuum advance distributer or do I need to go with the mechanical advance 009? How about the bosch coil? Does that need replacing? Several makes available, is igniter superior to accufire?

| Drilling vacuum port in an IDF carb | 12 Dec 2003 05:04 GMT | 6 |
I have a pair of Weber 40 IDF's. I plan updating them with the CB Performance kit. While I have them out, I would like to drill them for a vacuum advance distributor. I understand that the newer carbs already have the port drilled. Does anyone have a picture of one so I know ...

| Transaxle leak | 12 Dec 2003 03:33 GMT | 5 |
I have a small leak in a 68 swing axle trans, coming from what look like 'rivets' around one axle retainer plate. Epoxy from the outside didn't do it. What's the EASIEST way to fix this? I understand that the 68 Type III used 2 piece axle retainers and that they all leak eventually.

This spring (I know ... we're not even fully into winter yet!) I'm going to refurbish my new (to me) '71 Super Beetle. This will include a new interior (carpet, door panels, dash, seats and headliner), new paint, and all new window and body seals. I'm stocking up on parts and ...

| Them Front Flaps | 11 Dec 2003 23:42 GMT | 12 |
When the bus is moving a surprising amount of cool air comes in through the dash and defroster vents even when the blue levers are shoved into the fully upright and locked position. I can't figure out why this should be. The flaps behind the front grilles open and close as they

Gotta leave to pick up the kids from school in a few hours. And the bus is momentarily disabled. Can't figure out how to re-assemble this. 71 Bus. Owner's manual and Bentley's elegantly describe how to get the generator pulley apart to tighten the belt. They make no mention of how ...
