OT: Opportunity to by an old wheel alignment set.11 Dec 2003 16:32 GMT8
A local high school is selling off two unused 2-wheel alignment kits. They
found them in boxes, and the current teacher said they are using a 4-wheel
system, and have no use for the old ones.
One of them is a BEAR unit, from 1981/82. The other one is an AMMOCO from
fuel pump11 Dec 2003 16:08 GMT5
Got my leaky fuel pump replaced today. I ended up going with a hundred
dollar German one from OEVEEDUB. We'll see if it is any better, but I am not
taking any more chances with the Brazilian pumps!
Behind the Side Door11 Dec 2003 14:24 GMT4
Had the panel off the passenger side front door the other day, trying to
figure out why it's so hard to open the door from inside. It appears
that the inside handle mechanism is fine, and the nice linkage rod that
goes aft to the latch is fine, and it does actuate the latch, but ...
Rubber Lips11 Dec 2003 05:32 GMT15
So many questions today!
Engine compartment. Piece of tin at the bottom of the compartment right
aft of the engine, has two holes for the air ducts to pass through on
the way to the heater boxes. Even more aft of that is another piece of

For al theory keepers - Vacuum advance dizzys11 Dec 2003 00:45 GMT21
This is only to satisfy my need of always knowing all the theory behind all
the practice. Exactly how a vacuum advance distributor works? is there some
website that explains this clearly? I mean the whole process, not just, get
the signal and advance.

Am thunking of changing my 57's one piece windows back to stock (reinstall
vents).
Not so much that they rattle etc, but I want to put back that thin chrome
trim around the window outline. The PO had sorta Cal-Looked this car (plain
Engine swap woes.10 Dec 2003 16:21 GMT20
Been trying to swap out the engine on my '73 super for quite a while ago.
Despite every imaginable problem getting my engine and other replacement parts,
I'm ready to go.  Now the car is in my garage with the back end three feet in
the air.  I've disconnected every thing I can ...
Searching for a Hot VW's article10 Dec 2003 15:37 GMT10
Recent. Last month, I think. They did a conversion on a 67 decklid to make
it look like a 67 convertible decklid. I remember reading the article, and I
*think* I bought it, but I can't find it. Can anyone tell me where to find
it (or email me a copy?)
Transmissions 101 question10 Dec 2003 14:51 GMT14
I note that when downshifting, I can't push the tranny into 2nd or 1st
if I am rolling too fast. By what dark magic does this work?

VWoA10 Dec 2003 05:49 GMT4
VWoA as part of their website now has a place where VW related vendors can
apply for a trademark license.  They released the license info for clubs etc a
while back, so I guess this is the next step.  Here is the link.

Calling Muadib10 Dec 2003 05:22 GMT4
Hey Scott, did you ever finish cutting up that '72 Super?
Your website stops just before you were about to cut into the area just
forward of the doors. I was interested in seeing the defroster hose area.
Any more pictures?
Type 1 rear tire wear10 Dec 2003 00:51 GMT4
Help!  My '72 Type 1 (Super Beetle) has too much (negative?) camber on the
rear wheels...the inner 1-1/2" of tire tread wears out much more quickly
than the rest of the tire.  Does anyone know if this problem can be cured by
adjusting the torsion bars/spring plates, or is this for ...
