Engine tin, what goes there?08 Dec 2003 02:15 GMT3
On my 71 Super bug I appear to be missing a piece of engine tin. Looking at
the engine, to the left of the pully, but not down in the hole of the pully,
there is a threaded hole and a non threaded hole. The threaded hole has a
nut attached to the underside of the tin. Any ideas what ...

High performance heater box heat output?07 Dec 2003 21:07 GMT1
I am wondering if high performance 1 1/2" heater boxes will deliver warm air
when it gets cold.  I don't think any of them (aircooled.net, gene berg,
kymco) have internal fins inside the boxes like the stock ones do.  Now that
it has gotten cold can anyone give me an opinion on ...
heater box replacement advice needed07 Dec 2003 18:58 GMT2
I have  74 BEETLE standard (not super) with I believe a single-port 69
engine.  I recently lost the right-side heater box (apparently it just fell
off while I was driving, ouch).  I am planning to replace with
"staight-pipe" solution, basically just a curved pipe connecting from the
IRS Stub Axle Assembly07 Dec 2003 08:02 GMT2
I have removed the stub axles and bearings to refresh them with grease and
just to check on their status. I bought the kits that have the seals,
backing plate gaskets, flat washer and O-Rings.  I have the spacer and
bearing assembly figured out but am not sure where the O-Rings and ...

Snap-on vs Craftsman (Timing Lights)07 Dec 2003 06:00 GMT33
Hey guys (and gals), have you noticed the huge price difference beetween
Snap-on and almost every other brand of timing lights out there? Craftsmans
go for anything around 50-80 dls, and Snap-on STARTS at 200 dls. What do
these snao-on things do? do they make your engine double its ...
Rusted Frame head07 Dec 2003 03:57 GMT1
Emergency! the rust cancer is killing my frame head. It's a SB with a case
of shimmies, I was replacing the shocks when I saw it. Is there a place I
can get a new frame head? I'd rather replace the whole thing than patching
it with sheet metal. How should I do this?
Window Rubber07 Dec 2003 03:26 GMT14
This has been asked and argued like a 1000 times I'm just never around to
read the conclusion.
Where is the best place to get window rubber?
I think Bebe's may be leaking a little in the front so I figure I might as

Engine Stands06 Dec 2003 19:38 GMT6
Is there an advantage to having the engine stand for VW's or can you use the
standard engine stand. Would this engine stand work for VW engines?

Rear Window Defogger06 Dec 2003 17:25 GMT1
I have two 74 Super Beetles and the rear window defroster grids on both
are shot. Does anyone know where I could send them off to to get
repaired or recommend a really good standalone blower unit that will
keep them clear of fog and frost.
nut size06 Dec 2003 16:57 GMT15
What is the size of the nut that holds the back wheel drum brake in place
in a '72 SB? I mean this one in the pic:

VDO gauges06 Dec 2003 13:32 GMT2
I just bought a VDO oil pressure gauge and a VDO Voltage Gauge but neither
came with a wiring diagram.  The oil pressure gauge has three prongs marked
"S", "+" and "-".
The voltage has two prongs "+" and "-".  Is the "S" to the sending unit, the
