Need Help Building Shopping List06 Dec 2003 05:24 GMT2
My heater boxes are leaking, that's how the exhaust is getting into the
warm air in my 71 bus. So I've gone over to aircooled to order a pair of
new heater boxes.
I figure (being inexperience but not simple) that I will need various
Annoying fuel pump06 Dec 2003 00:09 GMT5
Hi. How do you guys recommend mounting or quieting a loud fuel pump? I have a
previously fuel injected '76 bug, which is why there is an electic pump. It's
mounted to the frame behind my front right wheel, and it drives me nuts with
its constant ticking.
Missing rear apron = overheating bus?05 Dec 2003 22:09 GMT5
I got by 71 bus back from the mechanic today, but ended up driving it
home without the rear apron installed (they forgot to leave the bolts
for me).  I noticed it seemed pretty hot when I got home (dipstick too
hot to hold).  My feeling is that it's because the rear apron wasn't
POR-15 VS RUST BULLET05 Dec 2003 18:40 GMT22
I need to purchase a rust-preventive coating. I know everyone swears
up and down about POR-15. However being the anal analytical person
that I am, I checked around for proof, and looking for the best
product for the money ($32 a quart is NOT considered cheap for me.

Dual thrust cam bearings.05 Dec 2003 17:45 GMT8
The thrust cam-bearings, have no tabs to prevent them from rotating in the
case. Is a special trick needed create these tabs without destroying the
bearings and case, or should I just punch them in position (in an old case)
to bend them and create the tabs?
What's a good asking price?05 Dec 2003 17:44 GMT1

Stock VW wheel wtb...05 Dec 2003 05:19 GMT6
I'm running 65's on my '72 Super, and I need at least one wheel. I
don't want 30 year old bent junk, and I don't want any problems with
the new one. My cv joint boots (yellow) were Bugpack, and don't ANYONE
buy them!!
Ghia restoration questions04 Dec 2003 13:40 GMT4
I've started working on the restoration of my 66 Karmann Ghia. I've
never done body work of any sort. I've disassembled the major parts of
the car and have the body off of the frame. I bought a mig welder and
a few other tools to do the job. I found that parts of the car was
lose heads04 Dec 2003 13:25 GMT5
I have 72 SP which the drivers side head become lose on.  It sounded like I
had glass packs on the thing.   Anyway I had the bottom bolts tighten and
for now things are fine.  The engine is only 2 to 3 years old.  What would
cause the heads to become lose?  Over heating?  I'm sure ...
More crappy parts04 Dec 2003 13:10 GMT6
Good gried, the qulaity of VW parts is shockingly bad lately or maybe I;m just
ona bad run of luck. I just finished a resto on a '60 ragtop for my wife so I
wanted ot make the car as bullet proof as possible so I used all new parts on
the engine. The exception was the gennie which ...
