Can anyone help with my 67 Bus.  I need a replacement bolt for where the
swing plate [I think that is what it is called] connects to the RGBox.
There are 4 bolts, 3 on one side and a single bolt on the other.  The head
of the single bolt broke off.  Need to take it "somewhere" and ...

Ok, now we come to the surprises, deception phase. I found a really ugly,
dirty, filthy distributor on the SB. it's a VW I think, it says is made in
brasil. But I really can't identify it. The number on the label (besides VW
and Audi logos) reads 040 905 205 8. Can anyone tell me ...

a great article about painting your VW at Home.
Anyone know the site??
New heater boxes -- need to drop engine?03 Dec 2003 15:03 GMT18
On a 71 bus, do you need to drop the engine to install new heat exchange
boxes? Is swapping those things out a major hassle?
Mine may be leaking CO into the heated air.
Exhaust Leak -- scenarios?03 Dec 2003 14:54 GMT12
Okay, I donned my white lab coat and, with the help of Inge, my sexy lab
assistant, I tried the hand-over-the-end-of-the-tailpipe test to check
for an exhaust leak. Burned my hand. While Inge cooed over my owie and
offered to make me feel better by taking my mind off it, I waited ...

I am moving everything out today, to move into MY house. I will not have

69 bug transmission noises03 Dec 2003 01:48 GMT6
My wife's 69 bug is making a howling noise which stops when the clutch
is pressed in.  I've read that this is probably the input shaft bearing,
but here's another issue: It grinds when you try to downshift while moving.
Is this worth attempting to fix or should I just replace the ...
Roloc Bristle Discs from 3M03 Dec 2003 01:25 GMT4
I've read in a technical article from VWTrends about the 3M Roloc Bristle
Discs to remove paint from the metal. They remove the paint, but leave the
metal unharmed. Has anybody used those discs? do they work?
thanks

215 tire on a 4.5 inch rim02 Dec 2003 23:35 GMT10
I'm building a baja/bush buggy, off road only out of a 73 standard beetle. I
have a number of 215-75-15 tires kicking around. Will they fit on the stock
beetle 4.5 inch rim? Anybody tried tires this size?
OT: Website with car flame thrower02 Dec 2003 21:10 GMT1
Can't remember who posted the website or the URL showing a flame
thrower attachment people in Africa have installed on BMWs to fight
carjacking.
Anyone still have that URL?

Removing Vent window glass?02 Dec 2003 15:53 GMT3
On my '71 Super Beetle, I need to replace the window "latch/lock".
In order to properly replace this, I need to remove the wing window glass to
gain access to the rivets.
Anyone have any tips for getting the glass out (short of a hammer?!)?
