Finally figured out what this loop of hose in the engine compartment is: the vacuum line for the brake master cylinder. I've traced it from the vacuum-powered brake servo back into the engine compartment, then it disappears forward of the shroud. Bentley's is coy about telling ...

The lads at VW Paradise sorta kinda neglected to fully tighten the clamp that holds the ignition coil so it fell loose. When it did, the Wonderbus lost power and I negotiated to the shoulder of the road. Got some amazingly loud backfires in the process. Everything's been pasted

Without Guesswork doesn't seem to have this useful bit. The nuts that go onto the two studs where you mount the heater boxes to the engine - what's our torque there? And if it is in WOG, where?

just got a new (well, second-hand) engine in my '64 bug, but she's having some trouble idling at low revs. stalls a lot. i've adjusted the idling screw as far as it'll go, but it doesn't help; can anyone tell me exactly where the "volume control screw" is? it's marked on a diagram ...

Up until now, I have been puttering along with the Beetle, fixing what needed fixing, but I have also been reading VWT's '71 Super Beetle restoration, and it got me thinking about the procedure to follow for semi-restoring my car (i.e. a "Boatcop" www.boatcop.com restoration).
