Flushing the VW transmission05 Jun 2005 22:18 GMT1
If I was to have my 1990 VW van's transmission "flushed" what is the
standard procedure
used by most shops?
That is, do they remove the pan and strainer and clean out the gunk
OT: the lighter side of life05 Jun 2005 20:22 GMT6
Jokes and stuff
Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries
are flat?
Why do banks charge a fee on "insufficient funds" when they know there
Valves Rattling05 Jun 2005 14:46 GMT7
Greetings group,
Something new has started in my engine and I'm not sure what else to
do. When I hit the gas hard, the valves are rattling. At first, I knew
it was timing, as we discussed here a few weeks ago and when I backed
How NOT to build VW engines05 Jun 2005 14:22 GMT2
Sheesh, some people. Maybe this little "article" will help someone avoid
these pitfalls.

Dude wants to soup up his 1200cc single port, buys a ton of parts, big

The car is in Sandia Park, just about 20 minutes East of Albuquerque.
14,000 miles on rebuilt 1600cc - runs strong, no smoke, all cooling

2k.  Points and timing adjusted every 4k.
Shag needs to try this.....04 Jun 2005 20:21 GMT23
Shag, this may not be street legal even in North Carolina.  I suppose it is
OK in New Zealand though.

On disabling the choke04 Jun 2005 18:46 GMT15
Some, if not all versions of the Muir repair manual recommend disabling
the choke in order to save fuel.
My thoughts on that:
1) with the engine cold, you end up blipping teh throttle with your foot
Thanks04 Jun 2005 16:06 GMT3
Every once in awhile you run across a person that does some very nice for
you,
for no other reason than he's a nice guy and wanted to help.
Not too many of those left these days.
'69 electrical problems04 Jun 2005 03:54 GMT4
I'm new to this group, and need some advice. I've got a '69 1500 VW
Beetle, with serious electrical issues.
The indicator lights don't work. A quick check revealed that the flasher
unit is broken, so I replaced that. The indicators clicked 3 times, then

Interesting new distributor03 Jun 2005 21:50 GMT5
I see Albertronics is selling vacuum advance electronic distributors for VWs. I have one of their electronic ignitions
on my 2CV and it's been great so far. I'd be interested to see this one in action. Unfortunately they are still
uploading the update so the PDF install file isn't ...
Any tips for polishing up turn signal plastic?03 Jun 2005 08:52 GMT10
Working on the fenders is going to be my next step and all of my turn
signals are fine except the plastic lenses have these tiny cracks through
them.  I was wondering if anyone has come up with a way to strengthen or
weld together these lenses?
Rubber brake lines03 Jun 2005 08:48 GMT8
Okay, I've gotten new rubber lines all around and am trying to get the
old jobbies off, but I'm running into a bit of trouble.  The Haynes
manual was kind of vague with regards to getting the lines out of the
tabs on the body.  I see there is the tab which is welded to the car ...
