Rocker Ration22 Jun 2005 23:56 GMT3
I have a question regarding rocker ratios..
I understand how with a 'stock' cam high ratio rockers make a
difference in valve lift, basically increasing lift.
That makes sense.
A few oil drops22 Jun 2005 23:06 GMT14
I’m noticing that there a few oil drops from the vertical tube that comes from the
oil filler and ends under the car near cilinder#2 with a plastic cap on it when
I park the car.
The oil doesn’t come from the air filter, because the tube that comes from it is
A very cool body off thread22 Jun 2005 21:50 GMT5
Hey all.
Since I am doing a body off, I'm always looking for pages of how other
people are doing it and suspect I am not the only one.
Came across the following thread:
Duct Tape and Root Beer22 Jun 2005 01:59 GMT8
Here I am...upset that I've snapped the Y pipe  (under the back seat on the
driver side) right off !!
Shot off some emails,  called some local "experts"  and started questioning
if I really needed heat in the front of the car.
Swapping VW 1700 motor for Porsche 2400?22 Jun 2005 01:52 GMT1
Any experience, comments, etc, re: swapping a 1700cc 1972 VW Bus engine for
a 1974 Porsche (I believe it's a ) 2400cc engine? The 1700's gonna need a
rebuild soon and the Porsche is available.  TIA. Gord
Longblocks22 Jun 2005 01:36 GMT10
Remember those brand new longblocks that Beetlemex had for $1295.00.  I
got a J.C. Whitney catalog in the mail the other day and was looking
through it and they have a brand new longblock, but the price is
$2195.00.  I guess those cheap engines were a bargain while they lasted.
OT  Another good day to live21 Jun 2005 16:09 GMT29
Whoooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!  What a rush!!!!!  Decided to ride the bike
in to work again today and it was almost my last trip.  I stopped on
Six Forks Road heading north to wait for oncoming  southbound traffic
to clear so I could make a left turn.  That portion of Six Forks road
TULZ revisited21 Jun 2005 13:53 GMT1
To All:
Feller writes to ask:  'Is a soldering gun the same as a soldering
iron?'
(He's stumbled upon the TULZ Series, got down to Chapter Three, is

Starting Problems21 Jun 2005 07:36 GMT6
Hi. I have a 1965 Beetle (South African Edition). When I turn the key, the
starter doesn't turn. Tried to short the solenoid switch. Same problem.
Tried a new battery. Still no luck. So, I swopped out a known working
starter from my second Beetle. Still the same problem. I now ...
cv joint lockwashers and torque21 Jun 2005 04:54 GMT18
I'm reinstalling an IRS transaxle. Are there supposed to be any
lockwashers on the cv joint bolts? Right now, I just have the boot
(which has a metal flange as part of it), and a bunch of half-moon
shaped things (two bolts per half-moon shaped thing). But no
Tire size ideas?21 Jun 2005 02:30 GMT2
I have a 75 Baja just about completed and a set of Empi 8 spoke rims handy.
Was going to weld in adjusters this weekend and raise the rear a couple of
inches too.  Anyone have any comments/ideas on a good tire size that will
fit all 4 corners on these rims?  Looking to get a ...
Garwood's Car of the Century20 Jun 2005 21:21 GMT1
Hey guys,
I recently noticed that the new version of JT Garwood's Car of the
Century is available (www.vwcarofthecentury.com), and I was wondering
if any of you had gotten a copy yet? I don't particularly like that
Hodge Podge Beetle20 Jun 2005 20:15 GMT2
This may seem like a strange question,.. but it fits me <G>.
As I do the research and repairs on this "1970" Beetle I have learned
that so far,.. I haven't found anything on it that was built in 1970.
The engine decoded out to be built in 71,.. the body seems to be from
34 PICT Mixture issue20 Jun 2005 19:26 GMT3
I'm running a Formula Vee in Australia that uses a Solex 34 PICT-3
carby on a 1600 Engine.
On the dyno, the mixtures are not looking right, basically, it is
running too lean at low RPM, and rich at high RPM.
