I've been away for a while, enjoying the Wonderbus, and out camping in

Well, I finally got the oil filler and nut off of my '74 Beetle.  It
was leaking a little oil and of course, was very difficult to get off.
I grinded off the tin and then used a pipe wrench and vice-grip to get
the nut off.  Actually, the nut broke but that's okay.

Due to replace both axle boots on the 74 bug. Haynes says split is to be at
rear, current torn one is up. Muir says either. Apart from not facing down,
is there any particular preference ?

it's starting to smell a little rich so I figure the mixture is off.

How much total, parts and labor, would it cost me to take my '73 STD
VW Beetle to a shop and have the main wiring harness replaced?
 It would cost me btween $106.00 US to $152.00 US plus about $9.00 US
for shipping just for the main harness.

top of the shock slides through before fastening down.

aircooled.net article on how to jet a carb. Before I dig in, any
