34PICT and SVDA dist.24 Aug 2005 12:41 GMT4
I recently purchased a 74 SB.  The last time I owned an aircooled VW
was 25 years ago and it was a 1967.  I live in the central valley of
California and it is quite warm now and rarely gets below freezing
even in the dead of winter.  The car is driven daily to and from work

'68 Westy engine/body seal24 Aug 2005 04:06 GMT4
Two questions.
1. Two pieces arrived in the package. I assume the larger "U" shaped
piece goes around the rear of the apron (front of the engine). Where
does the smaller piece go?

Ok, bled the brakes.23 Aug 2005 04:52 GMT2
Sure made a big difference on my '66 with drums all the way around.  If you
haven't done it for awhile, I suggest don't wail until you have spongy
brakes like I did.   Only took about 45 minutes to complete all 4 brakes.

Front Axle23 Aug 2005 03:46 GMT4
I have a 1974 VW beetle and need to replace the front axle.  I removed the
six bolt, disconnected the brake drums, tie rods.  Can the axle be removed
without cutting the front bumper enforcers? If they are cutted, do I need
to weld them back?
FREE VW-BUS GAS TANK23 Aug 2005 03:19 GMT2
This is a gas tank out of a 1975 VW Bus ((will fit '74 thru '79 (???)).
It is whole and tight, but is rusty on the inside so would need to be
'bathed' inside (with chemicals, a common procedure) before
installation.

75 SB Converted to Carb
After gloating how my Bug was purring...it crapped out at a stop light. Wouldn't turn over several times. Adjusted points, enough to get it sputtering to a idle with lots of gas. Found out that the ball bearing metal holder was broke and the ball bearing ...

I just bought the following car off ebay.  And need someone to pick it
up.  I would love the whole car but mainly need the motor.  SO if
anyone could take the motor out and ship to me I'd pay for picking the
car up, shipping it and you could keep the rest of the car.  If I can
