What is it ???29 Aug 2007 20:51 GMT6
I have a 65' Bug and am trying to figure out what engine is in it. I
am sure it has been changed from its 40hp state. Under the generator
stand it shows the Encircled VW logo, then it has an F, which is
crooked looking like it could have been stamped like that, and the
Electronic ignition dizzy question29 Aug 2007 19:50 GMT5
I am looking at a '70 beetle.  It has a vacuum advance dizzy with
electronic ignition which I am not familiar with instead of points and
condensor.  I can't tell the make.  While checking the advance with
the homemade Muir lamp I noticed it stayed lit dimly all the way

'78 bus 2.0L cold oil leak?26 Aug 2007 20:32 GMT7
Finally got the beast back together and running good, but she's got a nasty
oil leak when cold.  Doesn't seem to hardly leak at all once its warmed up,
but it pours out when its cold.  Dripping right off the oil filter.  Can't
tell where the heck it's coming from.  Any thoughts?

1970 VW Bug Heater is on all the time26 Aug 2007 01:04 GMT1
I got a 1970 VW Beetle from my father-in-law recently.  The car has
been in my wife's family since they bought it in England in 1970.  I
notice that the heater and fan are on all the time.  The lever/knob to
fix the problem are broken and I can't figure out a way to stop the
'70 bug running hot.25 Aug 2007 13:59 GMT1
all I can think of is the timing.
Speedy Jim to the rescue?
