full throttle - no power29 Feb 2008 14:20 GMT2
when I want to accelerate my '71 VW Karmann Ghia with full throttle the
engine does not deliver maximum power. Is this a problem of too much gas in
the carburator?
Something that doesn't work29 Feb 2008 01:36 GMT3
Having the pleasure of someone else's car in my garage, engine sitting
on the floor in pieces, I found myself needing to remove the
crankshaft pulley(stock style) from a stock 1600 engine. I've never
had to do this job on a stock pulley before since I run one of the
Powdery paint28 Feb 2008 05:24 GMT2
Years before my Squareback ended up with me it was resprayed.
I can spend all day polishing it only to have it about a fortnight
later go back to that powdery faded lighter colour. Tried different waxes
etc to no avail. Any suggestions apart from making offensive

Fuel Pump Leak24 Feb 2008 04:06 GMT1
I think I may have found a reason for my fuel mileage dropping from 27
to 20. I have fuel leaking from the fuel pump "bell". Is this OK to
drive on a bit until I get a part to replace it or is it a "park it"
until fixed problem. I have no idea how long it's been like this.

Generator belt size21 Feb 2008 15:38 GMT3
I busted my generator belt on the way home in the pouring down rain today.
I noticed the gen light after a moment (after the idiotic thought of just
driving the short distance home without a belt flashed through my head)
and pulled over to replace it.
Fuel smell21 Feb 2008 05:52 GMT35
I've got a 1641cc engine - pretty fast Beetle - but lately its starting to
smell of petrol esp. after I reved it hard.
I undid the fuel lines and screwed the clampers on again - and that seemed
to help.

has accumulated over the years on the fiberglass poptop of our '82
