The new Mallory distributor with igntion bugged out after < 100 miles on it.
Fires only #1 and #2 cylinders.

Couple swingaxle questions28 May 2008 15:58 GMT1
I'm helping swap out a transaxle in a 1964 beetle. The replacement
unit had axles that were a bit shorter than the ones that came out of
the vehicle, so I was recruited to swap over the axles and also change
one backing plate that had a broken off brake adjuster 'finger'.
What is this? (seriously - found in float bowl)26 May 2008 11:59 GMT11
One of the Kadrons has been on-and-off working and last night it was very
bad.
It is getting plenty of fuel to the bowl. I removed the top and the bowl is
floating (not sunk) and appears good. Then I took it out, sucked out the gas
Meaning of abbreviations23 May 2008 22:18 GMT1
I am looking for a wise person that could tell me the meaning of the
abbreviations I found on the vehicle registration card of a vehicle
registered in california. I need to translate a certain document to a
friend and cannot guess the meaning of those abbreviations. The

hee hee, I got in a bit of trouble today :-)23 May 2008 06:00 GMT5
So I am on the 55 freeway in Orange County, just before the 55 meets the
405, and am stuck in traffic. As we get closer to the problem, my wife
and I notice there has been a fairly bad multicar accident. Call me
heartless, but one of the vehicles involved was a car transporter ...
flaps, stuff22 May 2008 03:13 GMT2
A bit of a discovery - a fellow in town has a whole mess of ACVW engines in
storage, none of them running,  and he's lost interest in why he got them (a
project never started.) They have been stored indoors for a long time. Very
little rust. (Lots of oily parts.)
redoing brakes on 74 vw beetle have some issues21 May 2008 04:38 GMT15
okay, this is on my moms 74 bug. so far we have rebuilt the wheel

5 bolt standard wheels21 May 2008 01:22 GMT4
Hi all, can someone tell me what year the wheels changed from the 5
bolt 'non vented' type to the 4 bolt vented?  I think it may be '66
but not sure.  I have a spotted a '67 beetle, but want the older style
standard wheels but just realised it probably won't be a straight
'73 Karmann-Ghia20 May 2008 23:28 GMT4
My quick story is that I have an '08 MINI Cooper Clubman that I use mostly
for the weekends and long distance driving for my hobbies.  I put too many
miles on it too soon so I want a daily driver.  Background:  My mother
bought a new '65 Beatle when I was about 2 and my uncle had ...
Beetle gas mileage20 May 2008 17:55 GMT33
With gas prices the way they are I'm seriously considering a Beetle to
drive to work most days and save my Jeep for when the weather is
seriously nasty.
I'm thinking a mid 70's Super Beetle but I expect a Standard would do
1 out of 1000 so is it worth it?20 May 2008 03:50 GMT4

the last 3 pictures are of the support rails of a triple back
convertible.  I'm sure the last time it was fixed ,quality meant
nothing but now its different.
Throttle cable broken - which way to thread replacement?20 May 2008 02:47 GMT3
Was driving home today and made it about halfway here (31miles from my
house to work).  Was in traffic, had to downshift to 3rd, then hit the
gas to accelerate and the pedal dropped to the floor.  I've had this
happen before in another Beetle and also in a Ford Fiesta so I knew
