Tranny Input Shaft Seal Install Tool - Help Please!26 Aug 2008 04:31 GMT9
What kind of home made sleeve tool can I make that does not require
welding to install the tranny input shaft seal?
I was thinking of a flat washer just a little smaller diameter as the
input shaft seal and a short piece of pvc pipe and a rubber mallet.

Broke some stuff on Lombard street in SF25 Aug 2008 11:48 GMT1
Known as the curviest street in the world, I took the newly fixed up 73
Super on a trip.  My wife, kid and I were passing through on our way to
Ocean Beach, and thought we'd take a little detour for fun.

Carby Overhaul25 Aug 2008 10:21 GMT2
I,m just overhauling my spare 32-34 PDSIT,s. I dont want to reassemble with
all dry bearing surfaces but thought mineral oil would probably evaporate in
no time flat with all the petrol vapours around. What,s the consensus, use
mineral oil, silicon oil ?,  dust with molybdenum ?.
can a head 'boss' be repaired?25 Aug 2008 04:10 GMT5
I have a 2 year old head which I  damaged when I was removing it.  I didn't
realize that one of the nuts wasn't loosened. I ended up cracking  the
casting.  Can I repair it somehow?
Take a look at the photos at the following link to see what I'm trying to

stripped oil strainer stud24 Aug 2008 05:28 GMT5
On my 36 hp, stripped a stud on my oil strainer only to find out it
was a 8mm x 6mm step stud.  Looking at the 8mm timesaver insert, just
doesn't seem to leave enough material between the edge of the insert
and the lip of the oil strainer lip.  I'd rather NOT use the timesaver
My 72 SB lives again! Now the gen light is acting up.23 Aug 2008 00:51 GMT4
Thanks to Chris (Halatos) for the great guide on adjusting valves. I always
forget how sensative these little buggers are...one valve was really loose,
some were loose by a bit and a couple were too tight. Makes for a crappy
running little car for sure. Runs strong now!
Generator Red Light -- all ready?23 Aug 2008 00:35 GMT9
I have a 68' bug with a 1500 engine in it.  Several years ago I
started experiencing some electrical problems and I went on a rampage
of replacing old and word out parts.  I replaced the generator with a
rebuilt/refurbished one which didn't do much other than sit in a
