Beware BFY obsolete parts31 Oct 2008 14:46 GMT15
To anyone looking for VW parts on the net I do not recommend BFY
Obsolete Parts. I have ordered from them several times in the past for
my 63 and never had a problem, this time though was a pretty bad
experience. Placed an order back in September to rewire my 68, didnt
can anyone recommend a cross country car mover?31 Oct 2008 07:14 GMT10
In a few months I'm moving from Irvine California to Lexington Kentucky.
I was thinking of selling my bug, but decided that I would probably
regret it for the rest of my life so have decided to move it. Anyone
here had any experience with companies who perform car moves? I'm ...

Question for Bob Hoover and the rest of the VW gurus31 Oct 2008 01:54 GMT67
I'm about to start rebuilding my 1200cc motor.  I've done a lot of
research, read a few books (including the Bentley Bible),and watched a
few engine rebuilding videos.  There seems to be some difference of
opinion concerning the rear main seal.  Some advocate applying glue on
Valve Spring Retainer Wear29 Oct 2008 18:38 GMT5
Now that my '74 standard bug is no longer my daily driver I find
myself worrying about something that I noticed a while ago. The engine
is a Mexican 1600 with unknown mileage. I am embarassed to say it does
not have cooling flaps and the air seal isn't perfect either so I know
I give up. Is there a reputable VW shop in St Louis...29 Oct 2008 03:44 GMT3
I've spent enough time on my daughter's 72 SB. I rebuilt the engine and
carb, got it put in place. Adjusted the valves (thanks for the info, mine
were WAY off) and carb.
Since then, I've had idling issues (comes and goes) a rattle that increases
Rust question28 Oct 2008 20:17 GMT3
Ok for all of you body guys out there here is a question. back in '92 when
my father got me my first car, '70 Bug, I had it repainted. I striped all of
the paint off with a paint striper and told the shop to sand the rest off
(not much was left) and then repaint. well not knowing ...

There is a guy who lives about a mile from me, he has his own VW shop,
mostly he works on older moder model air cooled VWs.He has been there
for many years.I ought to get over there some day and check out his
place.I know where there is an older model 1960s/1970s VW dune buggy
Idiot Insurance Agent25 Oct 2008 02:29 GMT6
The thread on Chinese parts reminds me of my former Allstate insurance
agent. When I asked why his rates were so high for my Bug he said,
"Parts are expensive". I told him I could get a fender for under $50 and
he answered, "Well that would be a part made overseas and we aren't
1st gear shimmy - Time for a new clutch pad?24 Oct 2008 23:27 GMT7
I have had some trouble the past few weeks.  While sitting rolling up
to a red light a few weeks back I heard a pop - a click - and a spring
noise.  It sounded like pinball parts falling around my ankles.  I cut
the engine, and rolled my Bug into a service station to have a look.
Esquire magazine: Why 3 out of 4 White Supremacists Support Barack     Obama24 Oct 2008 07:49 GMT17
Why White Supremacists Support Barack Obama
How do racists, anti-Semites and all-purpose hate-mongers view the
possibility of America’s first black president? Not necessarily the
way you think they would.
