Att: John regarding dogs again.31 Jan 2009 16:03 GMT20
Feeling ok today?
I just watched the film 'welcome To Mooseport', very entertaining. It also had a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in it, just thought I'd mention it.

regulator: sparks flew21 Jan 2009 03:54 GMT1
I was pulling out the back seat, and some metal came in contact with
the regulator, it was dark, and all I saw were sparks. The generator
light stays on now while the engine is running, and all the fuses look
fine. It seems to me that I fried my regulator, but is there a
What's for dinner tonight?21 Jan 2009 00:08 GMT10
Homemade macaroni and cheese with bacon here.  I boiled some elbow
macaroni in water and a little bacon grease to keep it from sticking
together.  I fried up about 1 1/2 pounds of bacon and drained it, then
crumbled it all up.  I diced up an onion and sauteed it in some of the

It did it before and replacing the brushes. Fixed it for a while.
It seems to be a dirty commutator as a "cleaning" fixes it for a while.

Is there a way to adjust the stock speedometer on a 1973 superbug for a
different wheel size or do I need to get a new VDO gauge? (if that is also
possible)
Thanks,
alternator conversion16 Jan 2009 10:12 GMT7
After breaking my heart, re-conditioning an old generator from my parts
(junk) stash, to replace the sickly one on my 1600 '72 deluxe beetle....to
find it didn't work after installing it and polarising it, I'm considering
an alternator conversion.

WTB: Bug or maybe a Ghia near Orlando, FL15 Jan 2009 00:51 GMT3
A friend wants to get back into aircooled VW's.
Looking primarily for a bug or possibly a ghia to tinker with. Doesn't
need to be perfect, but needs to be in running condition, all basics
"there". Reasonably reliable, legal, safe to drive etc.
Need some parts13 Jan 2009 21:45 GMT4
Okay, first off..my engine still leaks oil :( Despite my efforts, the
same leak I was trying to fix by replacing top-end related seals did
not fix the problem. However, I did see that the middle, lower main
bearing stud(?), the one with the big nut on it it between #1 and
