set aside to remember those who have served in our armed services. It

timing problems22 May 2009 22:55 GMT8
I'm trying to set the timing on my 77 FI Bug.  I cleaned the points and set
the gap.  I used a timing light but if I set it to spec, the engine idles
real rough and almost seems like it wants to stall.  I played with the
'idle' screw and tried to keep it between 900 & 1000 RPM.

78 SB alternator swap, fan housing issues15 May 2009 03:27 GMT10
I've got the engine from my '78 SB on the floor of my garage at the
moment. I went to remove the fan housing since I need to do replace a
bad alternator. Having browsed the group posts I came to the
conclusion that dropping the engine would involve the least pain (I've

Solex Pict-2 AIr Idle screw has no effect04 May 2009 17:00 GMT4
A few weeks back I checked my oil and found a gallon of fuel in it.
Woops.  Based on the advice of others in this situation I decided to
replace the fuel pump and also rebuild the carb.
I have been using a Solex Pict-3 for many years now, but I had a Solex

The link I had is dead and can't find it on google anywhere.
Would be horrible to think we'd lost it as a resource.
Maybe there are better/newer files available now, if so can you point me in
