Be advised that if you haven't received it already, a recall
notification is headed your way if you own a 1999-2002 Jetta WITH CRUISE
CONTROL. Safety Recall "WX" was issued (April 2004) to check/replace the
brake light switch "that may malfunction, causing the brake lights to

I am driving 96 jetta GLS/manual/Black. I have a problem starting the car
when I park my car under the sun.
In the hot weather, I always have to wait for 10 to 30 minutes. When I
touch the spark plug, sometimes it starts right away  I have no idea why

it replaced - no problemo, right?

Oil Sump gasket26 May 2004 01:04 GMT2
Afternoon all
Over the past couple of weeks i have needed to top up the oil in my Mk3 1.8
(ADZ engine) Golf, it's not been a lot but has been enough to cause the low
oil light to flash on cold start-up. I checked the seal around the oil
Did VW make a Jetta Diesel  '85- '92 ?25 May 2004 19:06 GMT10
I recall seeing lots of old Rabbit and (A1 ?) Jetta Diesels. I don't believe
I've ever seen an A2 Jetta or Jetta-III diesel. (At least not here in the
USA).
Or am I mistaken ?

Air Fuel gauge for A225 May 2004 05:50 GMT4
Anyone buy one of those Air Fuel mixture gauges for a A2?

anyone added a diode to avoid electrical feedback from the gauge?
VW special tool alternative?25 May 2004 05:50 GMT7
On my 96 jetta 2.0L, the bellhousing opening (on the transaxle) has a plug
in it that requires a VW special tool to remove.  The plug has a hexagonal
inset approx. 27mm.  Anyone have experience removing the plug without the
"special tool"?
Immobiliser 95 Corrado24 May 2004 23:58 GMT1
Does anyone know the procedure for overriding the immobilizer on a 95
Corrado. The immobilizer is intermittantly stopping the engine starting so
being able to over-ride it would be useful if it stops working completely !
I found a VW Technical Bulletin on the web (number 99-11 June ...

Rear Headrests on A2 Jettas ?24 May 2004 18:42 GMT3
I need to replace the rear seatback on my '85 Jetta 2-door.  Did any of the
'85-'92 rear seatbacks include headrests? I could've sworn I've seen them in
that era, but perhaps I'm thinking of Quantums or Audis 4000s  rather than
Jettas?
