Horn Question...23 May 2004 07:09 GMT7
My Horn gave up the ghost today..... So I went to Canadian Tire tonight to
get a horn for my Jetta, and ended up buying the wrong one...it's a
resonating horn, which sounds like something that would be appropriate for a
1955 Beetle...really wussy sound.

Remote-Control Key for 2001 Jetta23 May 2004 05:09 GMT5
I suspect the battery in my Jetta's remote control key is getting weak. It
loses its memory now and then. And the car does not acknowledge a secured
state with a beep, though the light do blink.
The Manual suggests I take it to a VW dealer to replace the battery for me.

Question on changing disc brake pads on rear of Jetta22 May 2004 19:38 GMT4
I'm attempting to change the disc brake pads on the rear of the wife's 2000
Jetta.  I'm turning the piston clockwise while applying pressure, but don't
seem to be getting anywhere.  Am I missing something or do I need one of
those special tools to apply mechanical pressure while ...

Alright...I feel really stupid right now...I cannot find in the Bentley
where it describes the procedure to remove the intake manifold....I can't
believe that it isn't mentioned in the book, but I have looked in the Fuel
System, Engine, and every other section I can think of.... ...

I have a 1994 VW golf and when i press the brake pedal the rear fog

indicators in the dash would also glow a little when i press the brake
Injector Pump Problem?22 May 2004 04:28 GMT4
I have an old 82 VW diesel engine that won't start. It had been sitting for
approximately 15 months. It seems to be a fuel problem. I've replaced the fuel
lines at the tank as they were leaking thinking the system might be sucking air
in. Did not solve the problem. Tried bleeding ...

1990 Jetta - Front Wheel Bearings22 May 2004 02:10 GMT22
Sorry if this topic has been covered before but....
My front wheel bearings are shot...with 283,000 kilometres, I can't
complain. That being said, is this a job that can be done in the driveway,
or should I be saving my pennies and going to a mechanic for this? I don't
Vibration in Steering Wheel22 May 2004 01:50 GMT4
I've dropped the Wheel Bearing issue...but...at idle, in "D" (drive) the
steering wheel vibrates...alot. I have the idle speed set correctly, the
engine mounts are all new, so I am wondering where the vibration is coming
from. I did a quick search on Google and found that there is a ...
Weird problem22 May 2004 01:04 GMT10
We have a 1999 Jetta Wolfsburg (A3 body).  It's my wife's car, so I'm
relaying this second hand.  Lately it's been behaving strangely.  Sometimes,
when started the lights won't work.  Turning the engine off and restarting,
the lights work!  Similar issues with the AC...
altitude21 May 2004 22:10 GMT6
About five years ago I drove my '89 16v Jetta through Colorado into
Utah (from Virginia) with a Mad River canoe on the Yakima roof rack.
The engine was not happy going up up up.  I remember that I dropped
below 60mph a few times.
Tiptronic VS Standard Transmission?21 May 2004 18:14 GMT19
I've been looking at the Jetta TDI for a while now, but after sitting in one
(at 6'1"), especially at the back, I realized that I would probably have to
upgrade in 8-10 years.  So I looked at the next step up, the Passat GLS with
TDI Engine.  The problem is, it comes with a ...
