timing belt tension18 May 2004 10:49 GMT3
It says in Haynes that the water pump should be turned anti-clockwise to
increase tensioning on the timing belt. How? I can't make it move anywhere,
although the cam belt does need to be tightened.
Thanks,
Hail Recaro Sport Seats18 May 2004 03:31 GMT5
Hey All
After spending 45 minutes ripping out the interior of my Jetta and
installing the new one, I can honestly say that it was worth the trouble.
These seats are sooooooooooo comfortable....I put the car through some
Cupholder18 May 2004 03:14 GMT2
I am in need of a cupholder.  I have a '94 Passat GLX.  Is there any
cupholders that fit well in my car?

'94 Passat GLX
"B" classifications18 May 2004 02:37 GMT2
Sorry, but this might be a dumb question, but here goes:
I just purchased a '94 Passat GLX Sedan.  I have seen B3 and B4 thrown
around.  I've been looking these up on the Internet, and I am finding B3 is
for 90-94 and B4 is for 94-97.  OK, so what is mine?
automatic transmission problems on 99-01 Jettas / Golfs?17 May 2004 23:50 GMT2
I am shopping for a used Jetta or Golf. I don't drive stick, so I'm
looking for an automatic transmission car. Today a mechanic I was
talking to warned me that the automatic transmissions used in the
non-turbo 99, 00, and possibly the 01 (he wasn't sure about that year)
Monsoon Amp17 May 2004 22:48 GMT2
Is there a way to add a monsoon amp to a non-monsoon system?
2001 Jetta17 May 2004 21:10 GMT4
I'm having a little problems getting use to living with a Jetta (1.8T
gls -2001) for the first time: Stick-shift takes too long to release after
startup on cold days - apparently there's a recall.
Mil Check light comes on after gasing up, eventually goes out.
Corrado VR6?17 May 2004 19:29 GMT5
I am looking at a Corrado VR6......facied one for a few years, but only
recently am I in a position to purchase one.
Unfortunatley, local (South East) they are all silly money.....are they
worth the money? I hear they are mega money on parts these days!
Jetta rubber door trim falling off- hardware solution?17 May 2004 15:05 GMT2
Salud,
I have a nice 98 Jetta GL with about 56k miles, purchased from
dealer in Connecticut, CPO car.  Auto tranny(hopefully not a liability
down the road), 8v engine (I actually think 8v is cool).  It's tame
What have you heard for A5 Golf arrival?17 May 2004 12:00 GMT3
I was at my dealer, Friday. He told me August 2005, the new Golfs will be
arriving in Canada for sale, pricing/engine choices haven't been released
yet apparantly. He said the new Jetta is coming after the Golf (I have heard
it will be the other way around for the USA).
Garage recommendation for North West Surrey17 May 2004 02:14 GMT1
I'm moving to the North West Surrey (Walton/Weybridge) area and would
appreciate it if anyone in this group can recommend (from personal
experience?) a garage to perform MOT and any necessary subsequent
repairs on my VW.
VAG-COM trick - good idea?17 May 2004 01:15 GMT1
I recently purchased a VAG-COM kit, in part on the basis of the following:
http://www.clubb5.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=50799
which indicates that it is possible to reconfigure the Tip computer in a
B5 or B5.5 to cure some of the annoyances of the auto tranny's behavior,
2003 VR6 GTI A/C16 May 2004 19:53 GMT2
I have a 2003 GTI VR6 with the Climatronic (sic) A/C system.  A couple of
days ago it started making a loud vibrating/growling sound from under the
passenger side glove box.  Once it makes this sound, the A/C becomes warm.
If I change the temp, it makes the same sound and sometimes ...

Does anyone know for a fact ( like having actually unscrewed them) what is
the size of the anti tamper screws that secure the air mass metering sender?

weird remote key problem16 May 2004 11:44 GMT6
I've been having an odd problem with the remote key of my 2002 Passat.
(I have only one, having lost the other soon after buying the car.) It
has slowly stopped working, more or less. It seemed obvious that it
was the battery in the key, and so I replaced and reprogrammed it,
