I got a quick story about my 82 VW 1.7 gasser pickup. I was on my way back from vacation on a 7 hour drive. I stop to use the restroom at a gas station and upon trying to restart my truck, the 9 month old starter refuses. (The solenoid has been getting very flakey. It will

| 8V GTi shudder when turning right | 09 Aug 2006 00:03 GMT | 4 |
My 1990 MkII 8V Golf GTi has developed a shudder when turning right. It becomes noticeable above about 50 MPH. On a fast sweeping right, it feels like driving on cobblestones, though there is no noise or grating. In normal town driving, it's barely perceptible. No problem

Hi all - I've got a 2000 1.4s VW Golf and have recently noticed that there is an odd sound. It sounds abit like brake squeal but doesn't happen under braking. It also sounds like a good old fashioned fan belt squeal but I don't have one of those! I thought I had narrowed it down to ...

| Golf Driver Mk2 idle speed | 08 Aug 2006 09:42 GMT | 2 |
Ok, not high idle speed for a change but LOW idle speed. I've just replaced the intermediate flange (between the carb and the manifold) as there was no seal at all - very rough, lumpy running yes. It now runs fantastically again but won't idle properly at all, keeps

| Temporary blowby? | 08 Aug 2006 04:54 GMT | 4 |
I let the oil change interval go by too long. About a year, 6K miles. Normally speaking the oil never gets black as can be, just dirty looking. And, never lost a drop of oil. Last oil change had maybe 1.5 quarts in the pan, plus the filter contents.

Got a letter today from VWoA about replacing the Crankcase Breather Hose on my 02 Passat 1.8T. It says I have up to 100,000 miles or ten years before the Service Action expires. My question is should I be concerned about this and get it replaced or just wait till it's necessary. ...
