I am sure my head gasket is blown, thus have begun a strip down today to replace it. All going well until I got to the cover around the cam timing belt.... The outer upper piece comes off easily, but I cannot get the inner cover off... Does the other outstanding lower cover need ...

Went to my local German and Sweidh the other day ofr a genuine VAG oil filter for my Golf. "can't get 'em any more" says the man. Says that VAG won;t supply them to G&S any more. "Should be a law against that", I said. Anyway he proferred an alternative item with the brand name

Is this a reasonably possible job? its a 1997 1.9tdi. I've heard that many many components will need to be swapped...i.e. axle shafts, break disks, black boxes ect. Does anyone know for sure? Cheers
