Hey folks.  I have a 1989 Cabriolet that, overall, is a great little car.
But lately when I drive it, when I come to a stop the RPM's go way low
(~200-300), and fluctuate between there and around 1000.  This fluctuation
is pretty rough for maybe 30 seconds or so, then it smoothes ...

I am sure my head gasket is blown, thus have begun a strip down today to
replace it. All going well until I got to the cover around the cam timing
belt.... The outer upper piece comes off easily, but I cannot get the inner
cover off... Does the other outstanding lower cover need ...

Beetle 1.8t tonight. How soon do I need to have my brake pads replaced

I just wanted to post a problem I had experienced with my 1992 VW Jetta
TDI, and what I finally figured the solution to be.
I read an awful lot of posts regarding engine overheat w/diesels, and

I have noticed recently that the heaters blow cold after approx 10-15
minutes of driving.
The blowers themslves work (on all three speeds), but go cold after a

I have been searching without joy for some info about our Polo's niggles.
They are:
- No interior light operation, either by door activation or using the manual

Went to my local German and Sweidh the other day ofr a genuine VAG oil
filter for my Golf. "can't get 'em any more" says the man. Says that
VAG won;t supply them to G&S any more. "Should be a law against that",

Is this a reasonably possible job?  its a 1997 1.9tdi.
I've heard that many many components will need to be swapped...i.e. axle
shafts, break disks, black boxes ect.  Does anyone know for sure?

Just got back from an hour or so on the motorway and found that the idling
revs have jumped to a much higher speed. And when I turned off the ignition
