What are compatible transmissions for 1996 manual-shift Jetta?26 Jan 2007 23:57 GMT9
I have a '96 Jetta with a shot transmission in Wisconsin. To avoid the
$3000 replacement quoted from the local VW dealer, I want to buy a used
transmission and have it installed in a local shop. I know nothing
about cars, so please help.

I would like to discuss the subject of the ignition coils which sit on
top of the spark plugs.  The factory Bentley manual for my 2002 Passat
1.8T specifies using a special tool to remove these coils.  I read that

A question for the technical folks:
Christmas day, I was in need of fuel and (horror of horrors) the only
station open was an ARCO.  So I filled the tank with ARCO premium and

I have a 1999 golf mark 4 GTI 20V turbo about to reach 70k and the
suspension although good is starting to feel a little tired. Also I

Does anybody know of a good independent VW specialist in the Northants
area?  Our car is now over 3 years old and I want to stop using the VW
service network, but I would still like to use a garage the specialises
in the marque and has all the proper diagnostic equipment etc. rather
