| starter bushing removal and replacement | 06 Feb 2007 21:55 GMT | 6 |
I have an 1982 Diesel Rabbit. Lately the starter motor has been 'balky', encountering some kind of resistance. Taking the starter motor out is so simple that this seemed to be a good, thorough start to troubleshooting. The starter motor spindle that projects beyond the gear looked ...

Can someone tell me, on a Corrado G60, is there any kind of filter in what I assume is the PCV valve (big square thing on the driver's side of the timing cover, with an elbow to the boost bypass tube) and if so how does one clean it? There's a lot of oil in the boost tubes and I ...

| 02 Jetta VR6 makes Rattling Noise | 06 Feb 2007 02:27 GMT | 13 |
I noticed a rattling noise in the engine area anytime I "give it the gas". It's worse between 40-50mph. It seems to be worse depending on how cold it is outside. I drove it 3 hours one day and at the end of the trip I could barely hear it. I've taken it to VW dealership (they

Something is wrong with my gearbox. I noticed a problem getting the gear into Reverse and then at a stoplight a few minutes later, I was unable to put the car into any gear. I sat there with my hazards on and finally got it into 1st gear, but when I went to change to 2nd, it

| Replace seat cushion on 2003 Passat? | 04 Feb 2007 17:26 GMT | 1 |
I own a 2003 Passat, and the drivers seat cushion is pretty worn. The seats are leather and also heated. I am wondering if it is possible to DIY switch the front passenger seat cushion (or the bottom half of the seat) with the driver side seat? Or, do have have to call a junkyard

| Timing belt bearing failure on 2000 Beetle 1.8t? | 03 Feb 2007 14:48 GMT | 9 |
I posted here a couple days ago about my 2000 Beetle 1.8t with 70 k miles puttering like a diesel. I took it to the dealer and they were too booked up to take me until next week but by the sound they guessed it to be something loose, vibrating. I then took it to a VW tuner shop and ...

| VR6 Spark Plugs | 02 Feb 2007 19:15 GMT | 2 |
95 Passat VR6. Been religiously using the NGK BKR-5-EKU spark plugs since I bought the car used a few years ago. First set ran 34,000 km before the engine started to miss. Next set made it 30,000km before the missing and stumbling started. Not what I'd expect from $10 plugs.

VW dealer recommends that I get the timing belt replaced on my 2000 Passat 4Motion with 104K miles. Says it could go any time, although they can't inspect it without spending 3 hours taking the car appart. They want to charge me $1300. Should I get it done? Could I get it ...
