'87 Golf, 8v gas, about 180K miles.  It has a knocking coming from the
engine under very light load - i.e, when I'm almost coasting on level

What exactly is VAG-COM ?
is it a sofware or a lead ? Bit confused as I belive it opens up a lot of
features of your car to play with, which I would love to do.
Is it just a case of buying the software and lead and plu-in and go play ?

VW dealer says my 1.8Turbo 20v (APU)  Passat B5 needs fully synthetic
oil.Is this true or will semi-synth do the job. Car has 124,000miles.
