1. Why is it that individuals come here describing conditions that
very clearly stem from poor/no maintenance? The Owner's Manual
intervals are not suggestions, nor are they optional. Not if one

I was just wondering why VW (if anyone knows) says not to use lubricant on
the terminals of the battery ?

I have a 2003 Jetta 1.8T (with standard climate control, not the auto.
system).  A couple months ago, the backlight for the HVAC controls went out.
It would sometimes come on, but not much. Not a big deal; you just have to
adjust temp. control and which vents are being used by ...

Had a loss of coolant a while back after lending my car out. The level
remained constant since, but dipped again slightly last week, and the
cat is sniffing the front so I figure I should investigate.

I have a 1996 Jetta. The blinkers work fine until I hit the brakes -
then the blinker stops blinking. I checked the fuse and it looks fine
- what could be causing this?

I have a Mk3 K plate Golf 1.8 cl, the engine is overheating in
traffic but not when driving normally.I noticed that water was
bubbling out of the expansion tank and also that my cooling fan was
not cutting in.I checked the thermo switch by bridging the contacts

Looking for opinions, I have an issue where the check engine light is
coming on.  I recently gave the car a tuneup which cleared the misfire
codes it had, but now (1 week later), I have the following codes

To cut a long story short, my golf drowned today in a flood.
A VW dealer has confirmed that the engine is pretty much mullard - It
does run apparently, but it smokes badly.

I have the engine cover of, looking at the block I see our coil packs ?
which I think they are all tightly packed. I think the spark plugs are under
them ?

The windows kept misting up following either washing the car, or after
rain fall. Water was gathering in the spare wheel well and in the
pocket on the near side. After hours of searching I found that water
was somehow getting into the skin of the boot lid and seeping out

I posted on here recently about my VW bug water pump failing and
eventually causing the engine to over heat and die.  From melting
flanges and coolant parts to a replacement cylinder head and gasket.
After getting a quote from my nearest VW dealer for $4100 all in - I
