maintenance tips24 Jul 2007 01:49 GMT3
I just bought an 06 VW Jetta TDI.  Never had a diesel before.  Besides
following its maintenance schedule, what else should I be aware of or
make sure gets done on it to prolong its life?  Come on all you
gearheads, now's your chance:  enlighten me with your wisdom!
How do I remove 82 Rabbit Steering Wheel (with video)23 Jul 2007 18:06 GMT2
I am trying to remove my 82 Rabbit diesel steering wheel and can't
figure it out. I have removed plenty of steering wheels before but I
can't figure out how to get this metal horn switch plate out of the
way without bending it. It has a vinyl cover over it which I removed

I've been able to push my 5 speed 1.8  04 Passat to 40 MPG consistently.
I'm just curious what others are getting.

VW to leave US Market23 Jul 2007 02:41 GMT5
Kind of a sad situation but considering lack of quality of my last 2 VWs
(1993 Eurovan, 2000 Passat) and
crappy customer service no surprise.
Owned my first VW in 1965
PD13022 Jul 2007 23:04 GMT8
What sort of mileage would you expect a well maintained PD130 engine
to do before requiring major work ?  How long do the turbos usually
last ?
2006 Jetta digital clock22 Jul 2007 08:29 GMT1
the clock in my jetta gains 5 minutes/day. The dealer wants to remove
the dash to fix it. At the moment nothing rattles or squeaks but this
probably won't be the case after they mess with dash. There has to be
another way, its only a digital clock. Has anyone else had this
97' jetta TD overheats only at high speeds???22 Jul 2007 07:49 GMT7
When I drive at higher speeds, the temp. spikes up to 110 and coolant spews
out of vent hole in my resevoir. When I turn on the heat and crank the fan,
temp goes down. I'm thinking coolant flow issue??? I've changed the water
pump, thermostate, head gasket, fan works, rad looks fine ...
1984 GTI Rabbit Ox Sensor Frequency valve and Control Unit Mystery21 Jul 2007 20:06 GMT7
Note this is long with lots of details but I believe it is important to
understand what is going on.
I posted a couple of months ago about my 1984 Gti Rabbit.  I originally
thought that I had fuel pressure problems.
Fuel Enrichment Switch21 Jul 2007 16:05 GMT9
I have way to much fuel in the exhaust of my 85 Vanagon. After reading
the bentley manual I found it should have a 'fuel enrichment switch'
that basically dumps fuel into the system at high rpms. Can this switch
go bad and cause my problem? Would bypassing this switch hurt ...

Bora TDI Hesitation20 Jul 2007 07:18 GMT2
I bought a Bora a while ago. It's a TDI 130 Sport with a Tiptronic auto box.
I have a problem with the delay that exists when it pulls away. There are no
revs at all for a second or more and then they come in. It's not turbo lag,
it's simply revs, nothing. It doesn't happen all ...
