A relative has a 2001 Polo with 20k miles. It has the 1.4 8v engine. We're unclear whether the cam belt needs to be changed. The service log book just mentions renewing the belt every 60k miles. But I've read here and elsewhere that the plastic tensioner is prone

My GF has an '01 Passat wagon. On the driver's side rear door, what the service manual calls the "lock cylinder housing" wants to fall out. Except that she has keyless entry, so there's no lock cylinder in the rear doors, and so it's a dummy plug and there's no screw in the door ...

| Phaeton | 23 Sep 2007 01:58 GMT | 2 |
Any reason why the Phaeton never caught on? Is it that people can't connotate the term "Volkswagen" with luxury vehicles? Also -- the W8 and above engines never caught on... and perhaps in part due to the skyrocketing cost of gasoline. It would be great to see some hybrid
