At what mileage should the timing belt be replaced on an 04 1.8T? VW.com suggests only to check the belt at 60K and 80K miles.

Daughter's 1.7 SDI Lupo, '99 (T), done all of about 80k miles. The box had to be repaired about 10k miles ago, (18 months back), and it's gone again. Now making a heavy whine on the overrun at low speed. this suddenly came on yesterday.

The radiator hoses on my 2003 2.0 petrol Passat are held onto the radiator outlets by steel bands. The bands look like they may have been pressed on and may be clamped afterwards. How are you supposed to remove the bands? Pushing them down the pipe is not

I think that the switch for the back up lights may be bad, I checked the bulbs and they are good. Question is, where is the switch located and is it a ground out to complete the circuit type of switch. TAI, Bruce
