Fuel Filter17 Dec 2007 06:11 GMT8
I installed a new main fuel filter in the same direction as the
previous one, although it seems to contradict my Bentley.
The Bentley wants the fuel going towards the tank.
I've got mine going towards the front of the car.
1998 Polo rear door problem16 Dec 2007 20:17 GMT5
The rear nearside door on my 1998 1.4CL Polo is hard to open. It
unlocks fine but will then only open an inch or two. Then I gently
push it to and fro and it eventually opens correctly. It feels like
some problem of geometry but there has been no external damage to the
Stalling Golf16 Dec 2007 16:29 GMT5
90 Golf 1.8 8v 130,000 miles:
Lately the car has been stalling at intersections very intermittently
(maybe twice a week- though it is increasing in frequency).  I've
recently done a backyard tune-up: plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel
Windshield washer adjustment 97 Cabrio?15 Dec 2007 19:19 GMT1
One of the washer nozzles on my wife's 97 Cabrio died.  I looked
around online and saw them everywhere for $36 ea- but they weren't
listed on the germanautoparts.com site & I like dealing with them
because they usually have great prices- and they're local so in a
98 Golf 2.0 CE Light14 Dec 2007 14:14 GMT3
I am hoping someone may have some insight into a problem which has
driven me crazy. My sister has a 98 Golf 2.0 Automatic w/ 75,000
miles. She had a check engine light on for a few months and ignored
until inspection time.
Need Driver's Door Latch/Lck on an early 1994 Jetta. Chicago14 Dec 2007 03:31 GMT2
Dealer told me that these latches/locks are obsolete and he only found 2
in North America.  Costs $180+ also.
Does anyone have a good one that they can ship to Chicago?
Are these locks that different on the later models?
Cost to replace a 1.8T engine?13 Dec 2007 20:46 GMT1
I'm thinking of buying a used '02 Passat w/ 108k miles on a 1.8T
engine where the timing belt broke on the freeway. I understand that
there is a chance -- however small -- that the whole engine may need
to be replaced. I'd like to be prepared for the worst-case-scenario.
Lead to Unleaded conversion advice needed13 Dec 2007 13:06 GMT15
What do I have to do to convert my 1985 Passat to unleaded now that LRP is
finally disappearing from all but a few outlets in the UK? Any and all advice
would be welcome. Thanks.
98 new beetle codes / resolution13 Dec 2007 05:39 GMT4
Howdy,
I have no questions, but wanted to toss this info out into the ether
as googlefood in hopes that it helps someone.
The wife's lately-seldom-driven '98 New Beetle was throwing these

I saw two Boras here over the weekend.12 Dec 2007 02:00 GMT1
Did these folks go to the trouble of importing a European-spec Jetta
or did they just buy a Bora badge somewhere?
Or, has VW changed the name of the Jetta in the US?
My GTI is talking French now -- help!12 Dec 2007 01:48 GMT12
My 2001 GTI VR6 now says, "Attacher Ceinture" sometimes when I start
it.  According to Babelfish, that's French for, "Fasten your
seatbelt".
I just had the ignition coil replaced, so I'm guessing that during the
Golf 1.8 GL Automatic (1996) - very bad damp starting problems11 Dec 2007 23:36 GMT2
This is getting painful, we are entering winter in the UK :(
On cold and damp (especially damp) days the car has a lot of
difficulty starting. I have changed the plugs and rotor arm and
covered the electrics in a damp start oil to keep the damp out of the
Secondary injection error11 Dec 2007 01:40 GMT5
I have a '97 Jetta GLX with the VR6 engine.  My check engine light
came on and I took it to my mechanic and he said it was a secondary
injection error.  He checked the fan, changed the relay and found that
the fan wasn't getting a signal from the computer to turn the fan on,
