I installed a new main fuel filter in the same direction as the previous one, although it seems to contradict my Bentley. The Bentley wants the fuel going towards the fuel pump where the power and such connect to it.

I never opened up the TO bearing access. What I did was add 3 rubber washers below the clutch cable auto-adjuster. This confirmed that the actuation finger on top of the TO bearing must have shifted in the spline. I am now able to shift gears normally. Clutch never slipped so that ...

I seem to recall that there was some procedure to reset the adaptive transmission on A4/MKIV cars. Something about turning on the ignition and holding the accelerator all the way down for a certain length of time.
