Oil pression/temperature signal30 Apr 2008 01:48 GMT3
I own a 92 VW cabriolet.  I bought the car few months ago, and I
already changed the head gasket because I was loosing coolant.  I
replaced the gasket with a new one, I set the timing correctly using a
timing light, and the coolant temperature gauge indicates that the

I mostly go to work and back which is a 24 mile round trip along an A

Clunk-clunk in rear suspension of 86 GLi28 Apr 2008 18:43 GMT7
OK, so I just picked up an '86 Jetta GLi Wolfsburg Edition, unknown
mileage (PO claims it's around 169k miles, odometer reads 151k but
doens't always work.)  On the test drive around the parking lot, there
was a very persistent, annoying "clunk-clunk, clunkety-clunk" that
passat brake pads28 Apr 2008 17:21 GMT6
Does anyone know anything about the durability of Brake pads on an 04
Passat?  For some strange reason I've just had to replace my rear pads for
the 2nd time.  I've only got 46,000 miles.  The first set went at 20,000 and
were replaced by VW.  I've always had pads last a long ...

Golf Mk IV driver's door switch?26 Apr 2008 17:38 GMT9
I've had an annoying electrical problem on my Golf Mk IV TDI's driver door
for a while.
The door light doesn't illuminate when the door is opened, the alarm to
tell you that you've left your lights on (when the door opens) doesn't
LOW TURNOUT AT VW'S AGM HANDS PORSCHE A MAJORITY25 Apr 2008 14:56 GMT1

1.8T breather PCV emissions hose rotted25 Apr 2008 01:05 GMT5
A couple of years ago an emissions hose of some sort (on the top of the
engine) rotted out on our 2002 1.8T Passat. I had the dealer fix it (not
free) but several months later we got a letter from VW stating that they
would fix it free or reimburse us.  We got $90 back.
Ideas Needed, 85 Vanagon Rear Suspension23 Apr 2008 08:57 GMT1
I'm usually over at the pinball group but I'm having a major issue
with hubby's vanagon (he is gone on temp duty) and I am hoping someone
here has a workable solution for our vanagon. The rear coil sping is
good but the "nub" that the coil spring fits around and that keeps  it
Muffler19 Apr 2008 19:23 GMT3
Living near a small rural town, I have only one choice for shopping for car
parts locally.  The rear muffler on the 88 VW Fox is leaking terribly.  So,
I thought I would inquire about cost and availability.  I was being curious.
The salesman/parts vendor said they no longer sell ...

2001 1.8T  hard starting when around freezing18 Apr 2008 21:27 GMT7
First, the car runs fine.
The problem is that it won't start, right away, when it has been
sitting in the cold awhile.
I have to try to start it, then let it sit for 3-5 mins.  It always
Play between steering wheel and wheels..17 Apr 2008 04:54 GMT2
Hi.. I've been experiencing a disconcerting sensation in the past
couple of days with my MkIII golf.. a looseness in response between
steering and wheels. Noticed this when turning at low speed, esp. on
uneven ground. It's unnerving, so I'm not driving it.
Blinking red temperature light - what does it mean?17 Apr 2008 01:52 GMT11
My car is a 2000 Beetle, 2.0 ltr gas engine.
About a week ago I suddenly got a blinking red temperature light while
driving. I had been driving about 20 minutes at the time. I checked
the coolant and oil, both were normal. The next two days I was fine
