A3 Golf clutch cable reconnect31 Jul 2008 14:02 GMT2
The small clip that the clutch cable attaches to (on the gearbox end
in the engine bay) broke.  I have bought a new clip, but in trying to
reattached the cable, the cable seems to be about 3cm (1 inch) too
short to reach the clip where it meets the clutch / gearbox housing.

2001 model AZD engine.
Thinking of trying to save a few quitd and spending an afternoon at it.

I have heard that VW is changing from a 4-year new car warranty to a
3-year warranty with all regular maintenance included.   This might
affect my buying decision,  Is a 3-year, 36,000 mile warranty with all

I've got a '84 VW turbo diesel rabbit that emits a strange noise
at around 90kph.  The noise is coming from the right side of the
car.  It is most evident at around 90 in either 4th or 5th gear.
Rather than clumsily try to describe this noise, I've put up a

Due to heat the whole thing has fallen like half a balloon from the
ceiling of the car but it is not ripped. Can you please advise,
if I remove the cardboard and  clean it from the excess foam, can I glue

my signals work when im driving, but as soon as i press the brake, the
signal goes of untill i release the brake again. Any ideas?

used to own a 80 diesel rabbit, was thinking another one gas or diesel would
make a good commuter car. Are these things still around? are they still
cheap?

My cat has been on its last legs and needs replacing a call to vw and they
said its a complicated job and called me back with a quote of £634 inc parts
labour and vat. *gulp*

My Mk4 Polo overheated today because the cooling fan is not working. I
have checked the fuses. The Haynes manual suggests disconnecting the
cooling fan thermostatic switch and bridging the relevant contacts in
the wiring plug. Trouble is I can't find the switch. Haynes says it is

The plastic shell of the driver side mirror is cracked, but the mirror
and motor are fine. Where can I get a replacement shell?  It seems I
have to purchase the entire mirror unit, which I don't need. Any
ideas?

i'm looking for a speedometer assembly for my 85 jetta diesel.  i can'
t seem to find one anywhere.  does anyone out there know where i can
get one?   i'm also looking for an a/c bypass pulley.  any help with
this would be much appreciated.

The driver side low/high combo bulb stopped working. I changed the
bulb, but it is still no good. I also checked the fuses and they are
good. I should note that my car was lightly rear-ended when this
problem started.  What could it be?
