Received a note in the mail yesterday about a class action lawsuit
involving the earlier reported coil failures in some VW engines.
After a quick read, it seems that the settlement just has VW agreeing
to do what it's already done, namely replacing the coils at its own

Replaced the front struts on this approx 3000 miles (5 years) ago, but
didn't replace the
strut bearings. Now they need replacing, but i have forgotten the
configuration

Anyway he is an owner of VW Golf II and he loves this car. On his own

I think I pulled a back muscle removing the oil filter on my 96 Golf
2.0L this weekend.  Since this is obviously a design issue that has
nothing to do with my age, I was wondering if there are any good
filter removal tools out there.  The strap wrench style tool does not

VW Golf 1.9TDi (1996)... About a year ago, the car developed an
intermittent electrical fault.  Driving along or stopped and idling,
the engine just cuts out entirely.  Still turns.  No unexpected
noises.  Ignition coil light and speedo stop working.  Other

How long should I expect the original factory battery to last?  The
car is 8.5 years old and still has the original battery in it.  Still
cranks well...
