For the past couple of weeks, my '98 Golf has had some issues as

The headlights go off as well as a number of other dash electrics,

Repair or replace?21 May 2009 13:26 GMT11
I have a 1996 Jetta GL with 82,000 miles. It is in need of various
sorts of repair, mechanical and cosmetic. So I left it with a shop
that did pretty nice work on my wife's 2000 New Beetle, they called
this morning and ran the list. The total will be about $3,000.00;

2000 Passat: Strange behavior of hazard/flasher.15 May 2009 19:45 GMT1
After the turn signal disengages, the clicking noise persists at
random intervals.  Eventually, after 5 to 10 seconds later, it stops.
The lights do not flash, only a clicking noise is heard from the
hazard/flasher module.
Passat14 May 2009 14:16 GMT3
Please talk me out of buying a 2005 Passat VR6 wagon. I've spent years
fixing two A-2 Jettas, and I've driven all the reliable, boring, ill-
fitting Japanese cars on the market to replace them (I'm 6'2 with long
legs). I'm close to concluding that a Passat is more reliable than
Jetta 200107 May 2009 04:15 GMT1
The catalytic converter end toward the engine has an expansion
or flex section before the flange that ties with the manifold.
The expansion(flex section) broke off from the tube leading
to the converter (the other end is fine).
Fuel Consumption Polo Diesel Match06 May 2009 15:44 GMT1
I have a Polo, 2008 model, fitted with the 70PS (51kw) 3 cylinder diesel
engine and recently carried out a fuel consumption check, gaining some
results that surprised me.
Has anyone done similar checks, preferably for steady motorway driving at
89 VW Cabriolet02 May 2009 15:45 GMT5
Couple of things.  I have an 89 VW Cabriolet, 210k miles, as stated,
when I go to start the car it fires the immediately stalls.  When I
try to start with the accelerator pedal down, it starts then revs then
dies.  It takes several attempts to get the car running.  Once warm,
96 Jetta Alarm when I try to start it02 May 2009 12:52 GMT1
For some years (2-3), the alarm system has not worked. When the head
was resurfaced and put back in the car, the repair shop knocked off
(broke) the alarm switch in the engine compartment. Never fixed it.
I tried to start the car this evening, and the alarm went off. Had to
